Barbadians are sports enthusiasts, no doubt about it. At any time of the year, you will find a major tournament or a lifestyle event of some kind or the other taking place.
There is polo, football (that is, the soccer version), rugby, golf, athletics, swimming, volleyball, basketball, horse racing, as well as a number of fitness activities such as the Sagicor Run for Life, the Nation Fun Walk and Fun Ride, and the Barbados Marathon series, among others.
But above all, there is cricket, glorious, cricket the national sport of Barbados.
Golf
Barbados has many international-level golf courses and facilities and tourists are welcome for a fee to play at any one of the many luxurious and scenic grounds. Many hotels and resorts offer packages to their guests to play any many of the courses around.
The first polo club on the island, the Barbados Polo Club, was established in 1884, after British officers who were posted here during the 19th Century introduced the sport to the island.
