From Canada

Air Canada flies daily to Barbados and, in the winter season sometimes adds an additional flight. In addition, there are special charters that operate during the year at peak periods. These include Zoom Airline, Sky Services and Air Transat.

From the Caribbean

LIAT, the regional air carrier, has multiple flights into and out of Barbados to various Caribbean countries. American Eagle flies between Puerto Rico and Barbados.

Entry Requirements

All visitors to Barbados, including children, require a valid passport and an onward or return airline ticket in order to gain entry into the island. And unless you are a national of one of the following countries you must obtain a visa to visit Barbados: USA, Canada, the Caribbean Community, the United Kingdom and some Commonwealth countries.

Immigration and Work Permits

The Barbados Immigration Act does not allow non-citizens, permanent residents or immigrants to work on the island without a work permit, except certain CARCOM nationals.

There are no statutory restrictions on the number of foreign employees a company can have at any time, but employers must establish that the position cannot be filled satisfactorily by a resident or national of Barbados.

Short-term work permits are valid for up to six months and are necessary for company personnel entering the country to assist with the setting up of the operation and training employees. A long-term work permit is valid for up to three years.

Documentation, including photographs, character references and a medical certificate, must be provided and accepted before a work permit is granted.
