Located a mere 13 degrees North of the Equator, Barbados is truly a tropical paradise. The weather is mostly sunny and warm with cooler night time temperatures.

There are two seasons in Barbados, hot and wet and hotter and dry. Don't worry though, when it gets too hot to be reasonable most people will find themselves "liming" in a local rum shop enjoying good conversation and a cool Banks beer.

Really, there are only two seasons: wet and dry. The "wet season" runs from June through November and is also the Hurricane season when many Atlantic hurricanes are known to cross the region.

Due to its location, however, Barbados is most often spared the wrath of these storms and has not been hit directly since Hurricane Janet in 1955 which swept across the island carving a path of destruction.

Tropical thunderstorms are spectacular but you will be drenched in a moment if you remain outside. Water runoff happens quickly on a coral island but there are some areas that are prone to flash floods. In the rainy season sudden downpours are frequent so walk with your umbrella if you see the rain clouds.

The dry season commences in December and runs until May. In the dry season temperatures can reach highs of 30+ degrees Celsius in the day but with Easter-bonnet blue skies populated with cotton candy clouds and access to beautiful beaches there really isn't much to complain about in Barbados
