Polo

The first polo club on the island, the Barbados Polo Club, was established in 1884, after British officers who were posted here during the 19th Century introduced the sport to the island.

The game is played at a very high level in Barbados with several first-class matches being held with visiting international teams throughout the year, although the polo season runs from December to March/April.

Within recent years, new polo fields have been created, some of which also feature luxury property development bordering the field.

There are currently four polo fields in Barbados located at: Holders and Waterhall in St. James, and Clifton and Lion Castle in St. Thomas.
